Osun Election: Aregbesola In Better Position to Win

+ The Factor Working against PDP in the South West

The electioneering campaign to solicit the vote of the people of Osun State is gradually winding-up and the two key actors in the election by their popularity are; the incumbent Governor of the State and the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and one time Senator in the State who is also the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senator Iyiola Omisore, who has both been employing different political strategy to woo the voters and the people of the State of the Living Spring to cast their votes for them in the election to occupy the State seat of power.

Coming on the heels of the loss of the APC in the neighborhood Ekiti State to the PDP, it is expected that similar feat will be reported in Osun State but unlike the outgoing Ekiti Governor who lost in all the 16 Local Government in the State, the Governor of Osun stands a better chance compare to his Ekiti State counterparts in the sense that he’s a complete politician who sees his people as very important rather than the inconsequential way his Ekiti brother treated his people.

It is to note that unlike what happened in Ekiti where the governor placed himself on a very exalted height thereby making him inaccessible to the people he’s supposed to be governing, the Governor of Osun State is known to have make sure there is virtually no gap between him and the people he pledged to serve a situation that made it possible for the people to be able to thump their chest that their Governor is easily accessible.

The Governor who stated immediately after his election that he would preferred to be addressed as Ogbeni which means mister, the most common title any man can answer to has not only bring the dividend of democracy to the people by the many laudable projects he has been executing since assumption of office but also by making sure his projects are that with human face, a thing that has also enshrine him to the people of the State whereas his opponent has been silent until some months back when the election is around the corner.

While the outcome of the last election in Ekiti State have suddenly given the opposing PDP a voice in the south-western part of the country where they are all now boasting that they will be taking over from the APC led governments in other States in the region forgetting that apart from the fact that Fayose’s emergence is divine he’s also very close to the people during his stint as the governor of the State before he was forced out by the hoax impeachment staged against him and later the emergency rule of the then President Olusegun Obasanjo, and for the party to have been making sure they are still relevant not minding the fact that they are not in government in the region, by making sure the people always feels their presence through time to time execution of personal or party financed projects that the people will see to know their readiness to govern their respective State but they will rather go to bed waiting for another election period. This much can be linked to the reason the party has been struggling in the region during electioneering process.
